Microsoft Dynamics CRMWhy SharePoint?
Microsoft developed SharePoint to address several key issues that most businesses experience. These challenges are:
  1. Collaboration - enabling your team to better communicate and share information related to your business making them more productive.
  2. Document Management - go beyond just sharing documents with your team, share them with your partners, vendors and clients. Further, effectively manage who sees what and when they see it.
  3. Business Intelligence - dashboards, reporting and analysis in SharePoint allows you to easily display data from all your systems in one place making it easier and quicker to make decisions.
  4. Business Processes - from approving an expense report to alerting you of changes to a document, SharePoint leverages Windows Workflow Foundation to enforce business rules and processes.
  5. Search - when you need to find a document, a posting or any other content you can leverage SharePoint to search across all your systems.
  6. Portal - Office SharePoint Server 2007 will give you complete enterprise grade Portal functionality.
As a matter of fact, this site is built with Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. To see some other examples of what you can do with SharePoint click here.

Microsoft SharePoint Platform What is SharePoint?

Microsoft has two products as part of SharePoint:
  1. Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. This is the core component of SharePoint is freely available to any business using Microsoft Windows Server 2003 or higher (including Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003).
  2. Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. This is the enterprise class solution for businesses that need more advanced features not provided in the base product like enterprise wide search and personal pages.

Which is right for me? Where do I start?

You need to ask yourself some basic questions to get started:

  • Am I ready for SharePoint? Do I need more training? Do we have the right equipment?
  • What is missing in the way my team interacts? Are we attacking the right problem or just a symptom of the larger problem?
  • What is the one area that our organization, customers, partners and vendors could improve by working better together? Is it Marketing, Sales, Operations, Service, Accounting?

Remember, SharePoint is only another tool in your toolbelt, not the answer to your business problems -- your team is the answer. By breaking down barriers that limits your team's ability to get more done in their day and by working more effectively with others can be powerful. This is where Inventiv can help. We have been there and know the road to success to solve your challenges. Our goal is to get you on the right road with the right tools leading to a more productive, efficient and there by more profitable business.
